Chapter 8: Five Hundred Silvers (1)

When Ye Yu carried the little black puppy into the yard, she met Aunt Wang who was just heading out.

The moment Aunt Wang saw the animal in Ye Yu’s arms, she became stunned and then said, “Lady Ye Yu, this…”

Ye Yu said in seriousness, “I couldn’t find any firewood, so I could only bring some wild animals back.”

“…”

The little black puppy’s ears moved a bit and Aunt Wang looked disapprovingly at Ye Yu too.

Ye Yu then explained what she saw in the mountains in simple terms, but omitted the part where she used her skills as a fortune-teller to find out what happened to that boy.

“It’s a tiny puppy and it has a heavy injury. If I let it go, it might encounter someone else and actually be cooked.” Ye Yu said, “Therefore, I want to bring it back here and allow it to rest and recover. If Aunt minds this, I will move out with this little thing.”

“If I won’t allow that little thing to stay, I wouldn’t have brought you back back then. Plus, having a puppy in the house is good too. It can accompany an old lady like me and the house can be lively.”

“Aunt, I know you have a soft heart.” Ye Yu smiled and said, “When the little thing grows up, I will let the puppy give birth to more puppies, so it can be bustling with noises in the future!”

“…” The Aunt shockingly stared at the puppy in Ye Yu’s arms and said, “This is a female one?”

The little black puppy in Ye Yu’s arms froze.

Ye Yu, however, didn’t detect that. She recalled and then shook her head in regret, saying, “It’s a male.”

The next morning, before Ye Yu prepared to go to devil city, she brought the weak little black puppy along as well.

In the beginning, the little thing was gentle and docile, but after noticing where Ye Yu was headed to, it tried its best to struggle and get out of her arms.

What a pity that the little puppy was still very weak and it was difficult for it to even stand up right now. Therefore, after a few struggling attempts, the puppy was suppressed by Ye Yu.

After the puppy failed a few times, it finally gave up and lied in Ye Yu’s arms, feeling humiliated.

“You’re not going to fight anymore?”

Ye Yu reached over and patted the little puppy’s two sharp and vertical ears, back and forth.

The little puppy tilted its head and attempted to shake Ye Yu’s fingers off.

“Whoa, you have quite an attitude for a small puppy.”

Ye Yu smiled and teased it, but the puppy didn’t even bother with her, keeping his head down dejectedly.

“You’re just like those boys. Otherwise, why are you acting like them now?” Ye Yu joked around and said, “I need to bring you to the devil city’s Spiritual Beast Pavilion to treat your injury. Otherwise, you think I would want to carry a puppy that weighs 5-6 catties?”

Ye Yu originally wasn’t going to communicate with this little black puppy, but she was incredibly bored from walking alone which is why she explained.

What surprised her was that when she finished explaining, the little black puppy seemed to have raised its head as if it had understood and glanced at her questioningly.

This made Ye Yu interested and she asked, “You can understand what I’m talking about?”

“Wu…”

The little black puppy nodded and then shook its head.

Ye Yu pondered over it for a few seconds and her eyes brightened, saying, “You can understand some, but not the others?”

The little black puppy was hesitant before nodding its head.

“Interesting.” Ye Yu smiled and said, “Even the dogs here are spirited which is why people can cultivate.”

This time, the little black dog was confused and didn’t seem to understand what Ye Yu was saying.

Ye Yu thought about it and said, “Either way, you can understand what I’m saying and it doesn’t seem that nice if I keep on calling you ‘little thing.’ Why don’t I give you a name?”

“…” The little black puppy revealed a rejecting expression.

Ye Yu said, “How about ‘doggo?’”
