It was dinnertime. The members of the Su family all gathered around the table. On the table were meat dishes.

Even the cabbage had meat slices mixed in. This meal was more extravagant than the one they had during the new year!

Su Jiaojiao returned the two dollars her brothers gave her before the meal. This was probably the money they had stored in private, so it would be rude to take it.

Although the two refused to accept the money, Su Jiaojiao still stuffed it into their pockets.

Now that they saw the lunch for today, they were so grateful they almost burst into tears, “Jiaojiao, thank you. Thank you so much.”

Although the family-splitting incident Jiaojiao made was really infuriating, and it made their relationship worsen for some time, she still treated them nicely.

The three children also nodded their heads and said joyously, “Aunt, you’re so nice to us!”

Su Jiaojiao smiled and said, “Go sit down and eat. I’ll go find Song Qinghan.”

“I’ll go find him,” Su Jianhua said, then went in search of him.

Sun Fang made her daughter sit down, “Take a seat and eat first. There’s enough food for everyone, so you don’t have to wait for them.”

“Ok.” Su Jiaojiao smiled sweetly and started eating.

She had only taken a few bites before the people in the house heard a cry of surprise from the courtyard. Then, they heard Su Jianhua’s voice, “How do you also have a watch?”

The people in the house instantly stopped eating. They stared at Su Jiaojiao and Song Qinghan, who had just come in so intently their stares seemed to pass through them.

Su Jiaojiao laughed and said, “If I have a watch, I’ll naturally buy one for him as well.”

“Jiaojiao treats me very well,” Song Qinghan nodded and said seriously.

When her two brothers and their wives heard that, they were envious to the extreme, to the point their faces contorted.

Both Sun Fang and Su Zhengyang were worried that their daughter has used up all of her husband’s money. She was spending so extravagantly, after all. Should Sun Fang help safekeep the couple’s money?

However, she didn’t know the relationship between her daughter and Song Qinghan, so she shouldn’t interfere with them. Otherwise, their relationship will deteriorate if Song Qinghan was dissatisfied with the arrangements.

The impact of the pair of watches had left the Su family members, who had initially been salivating over the table of meat, entirely without appetite.

(T/N: I’m slowly dying…but then again, we all are.)

After the tiring days of the second harvest, the villagers welcomed a relaxation period.

To celebrate the end of the second harvest, the province organized a crew to play a movie in the village. It would be played at one of the fields where the army is stationed.

That afternoon, people were already crowding over to the field and placing chairs there.

Su Jiaojiao, who hadn’t engaged in any recreational activities for a long time, had also taken Song Qinghan there to watch the film.

“What movie will be played this time?” Su Jiaojiao asked out of curiosity.

“I’ve heard that it’s ‘Tunnel Warfare’. I’ve never watched that movie before,” Song Qing replied as he lugged two folding chairs to the field. In his hand were the roasted sunflower seeds Su Jiaojiao bought from the city. You couldn’t watch a movie without any snacks after all.

“I haven’t watched it either. Hmm, how about we go to the city and catch a film a few days later?” That can also double as a date~

“Ok.”

The two of them were speaking silently. When they arrived at the field, the sun hadn’t set yet, but it was already packed. They had come late, so they could only sit at the outer rim of the field.

They had only sat down for a few minutes when a few people came over and starting talking to Song Qinghan.

Su Jiaojiao wasn’t socially adept, so she sat aside and listened to their conversation while holding the roasted sunflower seeds. Although Song Qinghan didn’t seem like a conversationalist, he knew how to make friends. He wasn’t a bad orator, too, as could be seen from the facial expressions of the people talking to him.

After more than an hour, when the sun set, the movie started to play.

The moviemaking of the current era was a bit rough, but the villagers were still amazed by it as they rarely got to see movies. None of them spoke, either, and all of them had their eyes fixed on the fabric screen. However, some gasps could be heard as the plot developed.

Su Jiaojiao’s priority was eating the sunflower seeds. She laid against Song Qinghan’s body and ate while watching. As she didn’t dare cause a racket and irritate the other villagers, she peeled the seeds with her hands.

Song Qinghan watched the film intently, but his hands never stopped helping his wife peel the sunflower seeds.

Suddenly, a figure stood up and walked towards the fabric screen.

Although it was on the outer perimeter of the field, it just so happened that she left a shadow on the projection.

“Oy! Go away!” Someone muttered that under their own breath.

Su Jiaojiao squinted a bit and saw that figure was Xi Yao.

She hadn’t acted against Xi Yao because Zhao Sisi had already fought with her. Therefore, Su Jiaojiao didn’t do anything after recognizing her.

Just as she thought this, Xi Yao seemed to turn around and look at her.

Su Jiaojiao didn’t care about what Xi Yao was planning. She continued peeling sunflower seeds and drank some green bean soup when she was thirsty. Delicious!

A youth came over and said quietly, “Jiaojiao, Zhao Sisi wants you to come over for a bit. She’s by those hay bales.”

“Where?” Su Jiaojiao turned her head to the direction his finger was pointing at but couldn’t find any hay bales.

However, the youth just said, “There!” impatiently and left impatiently to watch the movie.

Su Jiaojiao gave him a questioning look, then told Song Qinghan in a small voice, “Zhao Sisi wants to find me. I’ll go over for a bit.”

Song Qinghan immediately rose up and said, “I’ll follow you.”

“Ok,” Su Jiaojiao nodded her head. Then, the two walked there quickly.

They walked out of the field. They had initially thought the hay bales would be near the field where the movie was playing. However, they couldn’t see any hay bales around, so they asked the other villagers where Zhao Sisi was.

One villager replied, “Oh, I’ve heard she went there.”

Su Jiaojiao looked there. That was another field entirely. But Zhao Sisi was waiting for her there, so she should go over and have a look. Otherwise, something terrible may happen. It was dark, and accidents could happen, after all.

There weren’t any street lamps here, so it was pitch-black. Su Jiaojiao wouldn’t have dared walk this way if she wasn’t familiar with the route.

Su Jiaojiao was walking in front and Song Qinghan at the back.

When they went to the field’s entrance, a dark shadow jumped out of a hay bale and tried to assault Song Qinghan.

But when the shadow came close, they exclaimed, “Why is it a man?!”

Su Jiaojiao and Song Qinghan: …

Armos D. Platypus: I’m dropping this story. It’s hard to TL, the plot is non-existent, and the writing style is horrendous. I’m done. Screw this.

Just kidding. Happy April Fool’s!

(That being said, all the above points are 100% valid. Just saying.)
