At the president’s office, Dijing Corporation.

Shi Yu’s captivating eyes squinted while clasping his hands as he listlessly leaned on his swivel chair.

The corners of his lips curled up involuntarily when he heard the public message coming from the outside. There was more to his smile than met the eye.

Cherish your life? Stay away from scammers?

Screw it! He could not wait to get close to that fraudsters already. The closer, the better.

The telephone on his desk rang. He gave it two rings before he whisked his hand over and pressed a button. As the call came through, the tactful voice of a woman spoke.

“Mr. President, Miss Ye is here.”

“Bring her in.”

“Yes, Mr. President.”

As soon as the call ended, someone knocked on the door.

A few seconds later, the secretary ushered in the visitor before heading back out.

“You must be a very busy man, Mr. Shi!”

The pleasant voice of a woman rang through the president’s office. Ye Mei wore an office outfit, so tight that it accentuated her hourglass-figure.

Shi Yu glanced at her sideways with no expression on his face. “Cut the cackle. What’s it about?”

Ye Mei came closer, leaning her stomach against the desk. “We, at least, have been together once. How could you be so cold toward me?”

Shi Yu closed the file on the desk and gave a faint smile. “It was just an hour. It meant nothing.”

Ye Mei straightened up her body, letting out an irresistible smile. “Of course, it means something, even if it was just for a second. I, Ye Mei, is your ex-girlfriend.”

“So?” His lips lifted upward.

“So you will accept me once more.” Ye Mei looked at him suggestively, confidently.

The corner of his lips curled up slightly. He had eyes that looked as if they knew everything and yet revealed nothing. No one had ever dared to behave so chestily in his presence.

“If you’re here to spew nonsense, then save your breath.”

“Nonsense?” Ye Mei sneered. “It seems I have stuff to learn from you, the miser of words.”

“Please get straight to the point.” Shi Yu’s expression grew grimmer. He rose to his feet while facing his back toward her, giving her one last chance to speak.

Ye Mei had no choice but to get down to business. “About the business proposal my dad had spoken with you over the phone; have you come to a decision yet?”

Shi Yu turned his head and glanced at her, voice cold. “Show some sincerity. Ask him to come to my office and we will talk.”

There was a change in Ye Mei’s emotions. But she still kept her aloofness and pride. “I can speak on behalf of my dad.”

“That is unnecessary.”

“Shi Yu, you—”

“You can leave now.”

Ye Mei shot him a glance and left. Her expression now looked so much different from when she came. As she barged out from the president’s office, the secretary quickly walked her out in compliance with the company’s business etiquette.

After getting a cold shoulder, Ye Mei was not in her happiest mood. Putting the pedal to the metal, she sped off in a red sports car.
