“Cecil? It can’t be…” He let out a small gasp, his eyes were on Sheena.

“No, that’s not the case. Liz is here. Who are you?”

Everyone around was staring blankly at the Keefa as if he was saying something strange.

“She’s the saint of Colorado, Your Highness. Sheena Blyde.” A priest said, assuring him.

“I know that. Who is she! Why are you here!” There’s a subtle air around confused whether Keefa is all right.

“Liz!” Keefa swirled at her, “I need to talk to you.”

     Of course..

As they went through the end of the hallway, Keefa’s face was pale and eyes seemed bloodshot. He was shocked.

     ‘That’s right.’

     Liz felt even more heavier.

“Who is she? Why does she look the same as Cecil?”

“…I don’t know. She  doesn’t seem to be a descendant of Cecil’s relative. It could be possible that she’s a mere imitation?”

     “That’s impossible!”

     Certainly.

“Excuse me for speaking,” They were surprised to hear a voice from behind, afraid to turn around.

     It was Sheena, smiling.

Even if the other party was Liz, a commoner, no one had ever come in between the private conversation with the prince. Nevertheless, Sheena was just smiling with no hesitation in a daunting manner.

“Are you two talking in secret? You must be on good terms.”

“…that’s the case.” When Liz tried to answer in a hoarse voice, Keefa interrupted her, “Is there something you need?” He was so perplexed that his voice came out harder than necessary.

Sheena’s face sadly clouded, “I was halfway through greeting you, but I guess I’m in the way. I’m sorry.”

He looked down, and had a melancholy reminiscence of Cecil, who was shy and modest.

Liz saw Keefa breathlessly gazing intently at Sheena as if he’s drawn to her. The face that he had always wanted to see was in front of her. He didn’t resist and it was what it looked like.

     Liz’s heart throbbed.

No, she’s not Cecil. Cecil is me, not that person. She wanted to protest, but she can’t do that.

Sheena took a step toward Keefa and looked up at him slowly.

“I’ve always wanted to meet you, Your Highness. It’s true. I’ve always respected and looked up your work. I was really looking forward to seeing you when Your Highness came to the Colorado region on official business. But the timing wasn’t right and was unable to meet you. So, I’m really happy today.”

Wouldn’t be Keefa happy to hear Cecil say that to him?

Keefa froze again in front of the smiling Sheena. He didn’t know what to do. He knows that she isn’t Cecil but he was desperately fighting himself. The sight of it pained Liz.

She decided to live as Liz. She has no regrets of being reborn. But for the first time, she wondered why she was no longer Cecil. Why isn’t Keefa the Eugene that she has always remembered? She’s surprised but her heart ached because she knows this pain. She felt it many times before she met Eugene in the past.

When they couldn’t get in touch because of a disagreement, when she saw him pleasantly talking with other women, her chest would be struck in pain. And when she went to the Howard family but was informed that he’ll marry the Gould family’s daughter—

‘…No way. That shouldn’t be the case.’ She  flatly denied it.

He is the Crown Prince. Even if in the previous life, they were lovers, this life is completely different. He was the  man whom he had loved in her previous life, and Sheena’s face was exactly the same as that of hers in the past. So she’s just a little nervous. That’s all.

     “Oh, dear!” Suddenly, Sheena screamed.

When Liz looked up, she was uncomfortable. Sheena fell on Keefa, causing him to hold her reflexively.

“I’m sorry. I lost my balance.” Sheena, timidly apologized. She lifted her head and placed her hand against his chest, their gaze intertwined with each other. Keefa, who’s holding on her shoulders, quickly tried to separate himself from her.

“Please wait. My hair got tangled up in His Highness’s buttons.……”

He couldn’t do anything, so Keefa stood with both hands floating in the air, enduring and holding himself up.

     ‘Isn’t the timing good?’

Her  hair getting tangled up in the other person’s button just because she fell down? She felt disgusted that she had thought such things like a mother-in-law. However, Sheena’s back was in front of her, so she couldn’t see whether her hair really was tangled.

It seemed that a long time had passed. She was getting irritated, and even more frustrated. She didn’t know why she was getting annoyed.

Sheena finally raised her head, “I got it.”

“I’m sorry.” she said shyly. Keefa looked down at her.

Liz clenched his hands. She knows that look. It was an expression that’s always been directed at her in their previous life. She felt something heavy stuck in her body.

‘I hate it. I don’t want to see this anymore.’

A strong emotion came up, before she even noticed, she cried out, “No!”

The pale Keefa turned to look at Liz. His expression distorted as if he was scolding himself.

‘Don’t look at me like that.’ Liz turned away. Keefa is not bad, nor is Sheena. She has no right to say anything, no matter what she looks like. But she can’t help but feel confused by the tingling feeling of regret and the bitter sense of defeat, stabbing the soft part of her heart.

“Well, then, I have to do something. Excuse me.”

""

She was afraid that she wouldn’t be herself if she were ro stay there any longer. She quickly turned, in a rush to get out of there.

“Yes. Goodbye.” Sheena waved her hand with an innocent smile and looked up joyfully at Keefa as if they were alone.

She felt hurt, her heart tightened. She forced herself to push back her thoughts. Using all of her strength, she took a step forward.

Suddenly, she was pulled back. Her left arm was pulled back by a strong force, the next moment,  she’s being firmly held by the shoulders by Keefa. The warmth of Keefa can be felt. She turned around, shocked, she saw Keefa’s face above her. His dark brown hair was close to touching her cheek.

Her lips were drawn together and her eyes were trembling

“What?” Liz was  surprised that she let out a calm voice.

She was too close to him. Too close to even calm down. She tried to move and get a little distance from him, but she couldn’t, she was held tightly in his arms.

     “Let go.”

“Why are you going alone?” His voice was hard. He looked hurt by Liz’s misunderstanding, he was angry with himself that she misunderstood. His eyes were pleading as he stared into her eyes.

Keefa held onto her arm as she was thinking of a response. He looked at Sheena with bloodshot eyes, “Thank you for your kind greeting. This is in regards to the people in the royal palace and the temple. If we’re done, then, we’ll be leaving now.”

Sheena’s  expression is stiff, her shadow cast over her cheeks.

“Let’s go.” Liz was led away by Keefa, her arm still in his grasp.
