Chapter 012 - So one needs to factor in economics when studying metaphysics? (3)

Chu Qianli was surprised, “You do arts and crafts? What kind of arts and crafts?”

Tan Muxing, “… I knit scraves, make clothes, and some other stuff.”

Chu Qianli, “That sounds amazing. You make them from scratch?”

“Yes, I design and I make them…” Seeing that she didn’t find that odd, he asked in surprise, “You don’t find that odd? That I like stuff like that?”

“No. I think being able to make clothes is awesome. And what’s wrong with being like a girl?” said Chu Qianli.

“If one has only one strong suit, that is a handicap in and of itself. Much like some people would only define one with their sun signs and not be aware that everybody has traits from the other 11 signs as well.” Chu Qianli shrugged casually, “If you can be like a girl as a boy, that means you are very well-rounded. It’s really a compliment!”

Tan Muxing had never heard of it put that way before. He always felt that others were mocking him maliciously but now she said he was well-rounded. After pondering for a few seconds, he said in a soft voice, “You are so good at giving compliments. You are making me feel embarrassed.”

They had just met each other and now she was praising him like he was the best thing under the sun.

Chu Qianli said feebly, “Such is the fate of an astrologist. I am just telling the truth and you think I was just saying it.”

Tan Muxing tightened his lips a little and said mildly, “You might be right about one thing though. We just might be able to be friends.”

She was the first to say things like that to him. She even made him start to believe in the words of the stars.

After the two had gotten their food, they looked for an empty table to get seated before they happily started to enjoy their meal. They even started chitchatting about random tidbits around the school.

The cafeteria was filled with students from all grades and sitting at the table immediately next to Chu Qianli and Tan Muxing were a few girls from their same class. They were happily chitchatting and their words travelled over and landed clearly in Chu Qianli’s ears.

“But your horoscope says that you and him are a good match and both are fond of each other. It’d be a bummer if the two of you don’t get together!” Qiu Qingkong encouraged her as she looked up her phone. “This horoscope blogger said your romance is strong this week.”

Ruan Ya was a bit shy. She said hesitantly, “He might not feel the same……”

Qiu Qingkong was very enthusiastic. “Tauruses and Virgos are good match for each other!”

“That’s not necessarily true. You are overgeneralizing things,” interjected Chu Qianli.

Chu Qianli’s abrupt interjection made Tan Muxing looked up dubiously. He had no expected that from her.

The girls sitting at the table next to them was surprised. They were not familiar with the new girl and didn’t know how to respond right away.

Qiu Qingkong lowered her volume and argued, “But it says here that Tauruses and Virgos……”

Chu Qianli said indifferently, “You can’t just believe in everything that you read on the internet.”

Qiu Qingkong, being contradicted out of the blue, blushed and said, “Hey, nobody asked you to believe in horoscope. You didn’t need to make a point to mock us. We are just……” entertaining ourselves with horoscope.

“I didn’t say I don’t believe in horoscope. I said don’t just believe in everything that you read on the internet. At least listen to a more reliable source,” said Chu Qianli as she stood up decisively, pulled out her deck of playing cards and started shuffling it like a pro. “Everybody’s situation is different. A general reading has low reliability.”

The group of girls, dazed, watched Chu Qianli as she shuffled the cards. The play cards danced around her fingers like butterflies. They felt like they were watching as some special effects from a movie.

Tan Muxing, too, was stunned by her. He had no idea what she was up to.

“So you want to know how that person feels about you and how would you relationship go, right?” asked Chu Qianli casually as she looked over at Ruan Ya and shuffled.

Ruan Ya replied reflexively, “Yes.”

Chu Qianli fanned out the playing cards in front of her and said, “Draw.”
