Chapter 044 - Fate (2)

Qi Yan and He Shichen had been competitors for years.

He Shichen was not one who would meddle in matters that did not concern him. Him reacting the way he did right now meant that he was related to Chu Qianli in other ways.

Chu Qianli nodded, “Yes, I am.”

He Shichen walked over in brisk steps. Looked straight at Qi Yan, he said to her nonchalantly, “The He family can afford to support her. Even if she isn’t all that smart, I doubt she would ever need to worry about money in this life time.”

Chu Qianli felt aggrieved. “I’m not that smart?”

Tan Muxing comforted her gently. “Alright. That’s not true.”

Qi Yan looked up and down the expressionless He Shichen then said mockingly, “You have no idea of her value at all. You don’t understand the purpose of her existence. She is not going to confine herself in a family and the school ground. She will go very far one day. So far that it is unimaginable to you.

“True tao cannot not be comprehended or expressed in words.* Mankind’s understanding of the world is very limited. Even the strongest human being will be met up unpredictable fate. That is the reason why many want the ability to see into the future,” said Qi Yan slowly. “This is also the reason of all the different branches in numerology. Within China, ganshan is the most well-known one north of Yangtze. South of Yangtze, there are many different branches.”

Tan Muxing was taken aback a little by Qi Yan’s words.

“For personal reasons, I had visited many grandmasters. Having accuracy rate as high as her at her age means she is a sage. She is not a mundane person like you,” said Qi Yan as she looked coldly at He Shichen.

“Oh, you are exaggerating,” said Chu Qianli humbly while she urged with her big head, “Say some more. Say some more please……”

He Shichen, looking at the girl who had lost her mind from the praises, “……” You are telling me that this a sage?!

He Shichen seriously suspected that he was the only normal person there.

From his perspective, Chu Qianli has some special ability but she was neither smart nor a sage. Sometimes she was naïve to a point of foolishness. She didn’t seem to have any ill will in her. Otherwise, she could easily have crumbled him with her little tricks. But she definitely was not what Qi Yan proclaimed her to be. All in all, Chu Qianli was nothing more than a normal human being with her own sets of flaws.

He Shichen spent the entire week observing Chu Qianli and his opinion about her differed from his initial assessment of her.

As much as he didn’t want to admit to it, Chu Qianli didn’t have much of a dark side in her. She appeared to be silly and goofy and she really wasn’t a manipulative one.

He Shichen was losing patience, “I don’t want to listen to this crazy talk. She is still a student and her focus should be on her schoolwork. She couldn’t be getting a big head from you and the others.”

“What do you mean by giving her a big head? Do you really think all she could do are these silly divinations?” Qi Yan sneered. “You think she could only use her readings on matters of relationships or insignificant incidents? You need to keep in mind that in the past, divinations were often used in making decisions that could affect the country.”

Qi Yan wanted to have a relationship with Chu Qianli for much bigger plans in the future. She did not want to just be limited to where they were right now.

Chu Qianli’s tail was sticking up high from Qi Yan’s praises just a moment ago but Qi Yan’s words calmed her down and she said in a serious tone, “It’s not silly divinations.”

Qi Yan was taken aback a little.
