Chapter 8: Reservation

Yang Shun and the HR manager looked at each other, and walked together to the right.

Xie Sen followed the two men to the entrance of the first floor lobby, where four or five people were standing at the door. There were two men at the front, one of whom was a caretaker wearing a style similar to Yang Shun’s white clothing. He was apologizing incessantly to the man in a purple shirt opposite him. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to do it. I’m sorry.”

“What’s the use of being sorry?!” Purple shirt man’s voice was hoarse, and his eyes were red. “Little ErBei was hurt by you! He’s now so afraid. Maybe from now on he will be afraid of any injection.”

He held a white ball in his hand. Its entire body was buried in the crook of his arm. Only a short round tail was revealed, the bottom left of which was stained with blood. It was particularly obvious on the white fur. While he gently stroked the back of the white mass with his right hand, he said as he walked out the door, “I will definitely file a complaint against you, and I will see who dares to give you their contract beasts for treatment in the future.”

If professionalism and shirking responsibility are on the same level, then I definitely recognize you as a professional.” He was extremely angry and ready to leave. “Even if you don’t admit it, I’m calling the complaint number now. Let a reporter come, and it will be on live broadcast, lest there are others that could be hurt by your care center in the future.”

“Mr. Lin.” Yang Shun’s tone was still mild and unhurried. “I think the most important thing now is to bandage little ErBei and then give it treatment, don’t you think? The more you delay, the longer it will be in pain.”

Mr. Lin looked at the injured and shivering white mass, his eyes full of heartache. “How can I trust you guys? I came here to treat Little ErBei for the flu, but instead of a shot, he was traumatized!”

Yang Shun said, “We are all females with contract beasts. I can understand how you feel. I promise there won’t be any more problems. I will personally bandage it.”

Mr. Lin hesitated for a moment and nodded. “I’ll trust you once more. But if Xiao ErBei’s body wasn’t shaking more and more, and there was no other care center nearby, I would definitely change to another one.”

Yang Shun said sincerely, “Thank you for your trust. Please follow me.”

Yang Shun led Mr. Lin into the lobby, and the caretaker followed nervously. Xie Sen looked at the HR manager. He hesitated to follow them.

The HR manager said, “You follow Manager Yang. He will arrange the relevant work for you, and I will send you the work contract as soon as possible.”

Xie Sen hurriedly thanked him, “Thank you, Manager.” Then he jogged after Yang Shun.

Several people went into a consultation room together. Yang Shun took out the tools for cleaning wounds and sterilizers, then asked Mr. Lin to put the white ball on the soft pad on the table.

The man in purple moved his hand outward a little, and the white mass immediately arched toward him with a look of panic, its body trembling violently.

“Don’t be afraid. Don’t be afraid.” He gently reassured it, then asked Yang Shun, “What about this? Moving like this, it will bleed more.”

Yang Shun walked up to him as he asked Xiao Ke, “The left hind leg?” Xiao Ke nodded his head.

Yang Shun looked at the white ball with its head and limbs all curled up, then at the worried Mr. Lin, and gently suggested, “Put your hand on its back. Move quickly as you put it down, but don’t remove your hand. It will give it a sense of security.”

Mr. Lin did as Yang Shun said. The white ball was just next to the cushion, and it instantly twisted its head and buried it in him. Now, not only was its body trembling, but it also let out a frightened cry.

It was only then that Xie Sen realized that the white mass was a short-eared rabbit.

“This won’t work,” said a distraught Mr. Lin. “Isn’t there any way to calm it down?”

“It can be injected with a sedative,” Xiao Ke said in an aside.

Yang Shun gave a slight frown. Mr. Lin said angrily, “What did you say? Injecting flu medicine caused this. He is already injured. Do you still want him to suffer more?”

“No, don’t worry. We won’t use tranquilizers.” Yang Shun said gently but firmly. He opened his personal bracelet. “The short-eared rabbit beast has a sensitive mind, and is easily frightened. We have music specifically to make it relax, but it will take a little time,” he said. Then his eyes moved to Xie Sen, and his movement slowed a beat. “Xiao Sen, you try.”

Xie Sen froze at his name. He understood what Yang Shun meant, and he walked to Mr. Lin. “It’s so cute looking, can I pet it?”

Mr. Lin hesitated a bit, and Yang Shun said, “He is our new employee, and has a strong affinity for animals.”

When he saw Mr. Lin nod, Xie Sen reached out and gently touched Little ErBei’s back. He immediately felt Little ErBei’s body tremble.

Little ErBei’s body moved, and it unconsciously arched its body so that its back pressed more closely against Xie Sen’s palm. Then its head lifted from the crook of its master’s arm, and rubbed against his hand with its side.

After a moment, Mr. Lin said with surprise, “It’s stopped trembling!” 

“Put it on the cushion together, and don’t take your hands off its back.” Yang Shun said.

The touches of Mr. Lin and Xie Sen gave ErBei a great sense of security, and it lay very softly on the cushion. Yang Shun moved steadily and quickly. In a short time the wound was treated and the flu medicine was injected.

“Okay, let him rest.” Yang Shun said.

“Thank you so much,” Mr. Lin looked to Xie Sen. “What’s your name? I want to book you. I hope you can be the exclusive caretaker of Little ErBei.”

Xie Sen was surprised by the small words ‘Appreciate Energy 1, Total 4’ that popped up in front of him. When he heard Mr. Lin’s words, he waved his hand. “I’m still in my internship. I still need to learn.”

He was so excited. Getting gratitude energy from a female with a contract beast seemed so easy!

He really liked this job! Not only could he earn money, but he could also collect energy. He decided to nix the time and energy spent on entrance exam studies, and quickly master the caretaker ability! He must stay!

Mr. Lin was surprised. “You’re so good, and you’re still only an intern?”

Xie Sen smiled awkwardly. His affinity was entirely due to his Plant System, and had nothing to do with him personally.

Yang Shun laughed, “All our employees need to undergo a strict induction test. His name is Xie Sen. The internship period isn’t fixed, but if you trust him, in the future he can help ErBei. You can book him in advance to assist from the side.”

Mr. Lin looked at the rejuvenated Xiao ErBei and coughed lightly. “I was really too upset before when I said those angry words. You guys are really professional.” He laughed. “I will definitely book in advance next time.”

Xie Sen didn’t expect that these words would become the most common words he heard at the care center.
