Chapter 5 - What Else Do You Have to Say For Yourself? (1)

“Su Man-er? You… You…” Li CuiHua was stuttering now. She looked at Su Man-er as though she had seen a ghost and said, “How are you out here? I thought you were…..”

“What are you talking about? Why can’t I be out here? If I am not out here, where would I be?” Su Man-er walked up to Li CuiHua and looked askance at her. 

Li CuiHua gasped.. She looked over at the hut, then back at Su Man-er then she slapped herself on her thigh and said, “Oh, I get it. You’ve already come out, didn’t you? You knew that we were here to catch you and Zhao DaShun together so you came out a long time ago!”

Su Man-er looked at her alarmingly. 

Her voice dropped. Coldly and enunciating each word, she said, “Aunty, what are you talking about? Who’s having an affair with Zhao DaShun? I know you’ve never liked our branch of the family, but you can’t just smear my name like that. Don’t you know how important a woman’s reputation is for her? What are you doing to my reputation when you insult me like that?”

“Who… who’s insulting you? You are having an affair with Zhao DaShun! Lil’ Duck Egg saw it all! She saw you and Zhao DaShun walking inside the hut together and that the two of you…”

“Oh, yeah? Lil’ Duck Egg? Who’s Lil’ Duck Egg? Is she here right now?” Su Man-er scanned across the crowd coldly and asked.

A villager immediately pushed forward a girl around 10 or so and said loudly, “This is Lil’ Duck Egg, and she was the one who said you are having an affair with Zhao DaShun!”

Su Man-er looked over at Lil’ Duck Egg sternly. After giving her a couple looks, she asked nonchalantly, “So you are Lil’ Duck Egg? Why did you say you saw Zhao DaShun and I walked inside the hut together?!”

Lil' Duck Egg was already intimidated when she saw Su Man-er. Now she was even more frantic with her inquiries. 

She bit her tongue and stammered, “I… I…”

Hu YuJiao, looking a little gloomy, kept on signaling Lil’ Duck Egg and wanted to tell her not to say anything.

But Lil’ Duck Egg wasn’t paying her any attention right now. She looked only at Su Man-er and she was afraid of her. 

“I hope you will tell the truth and not lie! Do you know that liars will go to hell after they die and their tongues will be cut off,” said Su Man-er nonchalantly, her tone slack but chilly.

Lil’ Duck Egg shuddered in fear. 

Her eyes were filled with fear, and her face a little pale. 

Have their tongues cut off….

That must be very painful, and she’s deadly afraid of pain. 

Zang YuFeng, Lil' Duck Egg’s mother, was there as well. 

Zang YuFeng took a look at her own daughter and stared at Su Man-er. “Who are you trying to scare? My Lil’ Duck Egg would never lie! If she said she saw Zhao DaShun and you walk inside the hut, then that must be true!”

“Well, if that’s the truth then why is she panicking?!” That was Chi YunChen who said that. He looked coldly at Lil' Duck Egg’s reaction and inquired rudely. 

Everybody looked over at Lil' Duck Egg and all bit their tongues. Judging by the way Lil' Duck Egg looked, something was up. It’d seem that her words weren’t all that truthful after all.
