C44 – Relationship Isn’t Normal.

On the other side, Xu Yangyi scratched his head in frustration after sending the message. However, he realized that if he simply left like that, Xu Jing and Xu Nuannuan would be left in a difficult situation. He let out another sigh.

“Without Xu Nuannuan around, who will cook for Dad when he gets busy writing? Dad is utterly clueless when it comes to doing anything, so he’d surely starve at home.” Xu Yangyi mumbled as he glanced at his phone. Initially, he had planned to call Gong Cheng and ask him to move in with them to take care of Xu Jing. However, he reconsidered, realizing that Gong Cheng would already be aware of what to do after their earlier conversation, so he abandoned the idea.

Come to think of it, did Gong Cheng refer to himself as an uncle? In reality, he acted as a second father figure to Xu Yangyi and Xu Nuannuan. He took care of all the trivial matters pertaining to their family, their father’s work, and even securing permission for their parents’ meetings and leave of absence signatures. This was how they had been getting along even when Xu Yangyi’s mother was still alive.

Xu Yangyi’s mouth twitched as he thought about his helpless and comical father. “Dad, can you truly survive without Gong Cheng?” Xu Yangyi harbored doubts.

Xu Yangyi couldn’t bring himself to change the name he had been using for Gong Cheng since childhood. Even now, he continued to address him that way. Surprisingly, Gong Cheng didn’t seem to mind, so Xu Yangyi saw no need to make any alterations.

“But it’s strange! How long has Gong Cheng known my father? When my mom was still alive, they would always reminisce about their high school days. Could it be that Gong Cheng was constantly by my dad’s side during that time?” Xu Yangyi’s face reflected astonishment. Then, he unexpectedly remarked, “Dad was really fortunate to have such a good friend in Gong Cheng.” He then pondered over his father’s mischievous actions towards Gong Cheng and Gong Cheng’s indulgence towards his father. For some reason, the corner of Xu Yangyi’s mouth twitched, and he mused, “It can’t be!”

He promptly covered his head once again and slapped himself, exclaiming, “No, no, no, Xu Yangyi, you must be overthinking things right now. That’s why you connected them. Nothing out of the ordinary happened, I’m sure of it.”

Yet, as Xu Yangyi contemplated this, a flood of memories surfaced—memories of the various expressions Gong Cheng had whenever he looked at his father. The corner of Xu Yangyi’s mouth twitched even more intensely.

“It doesn’t feel like I’m the one making these thoughts.” Xu Yangyi’s face was filled with frustration. However, for some reason, he suddenly burst into laughter. “Well, if it’s Gong Cheng, then there’s nothing we can do about it. After all, he’s our father.” This time, when Xu Yangyi mentioned “our dad,” he wasn’t referring to Xu Jing but to Gong Cheng. It’s evident that Xu Yangyi isn’t too particular about Gong Cheng.

“I wonder how Xu Nuannuan will react when she finds out!” Xu Yangyi suddenly started worrying about this. Yet, after a brief moment of blankness, he exclaimed, “Damn it, she scared the hell out of me! She also ran off with a woman.” As Xu Yangyi realized that his current predicament was a result of Xu Nuannuan’s actions, his face contorted with anger. His emotions had certainly undergone a drastic change! Xu Nuannuan had initially been concerned that he might run away, but now she was the one who was furious.

“Damn Xu Nuannuan, if you don’t explain what’s going on, I’ll kill your woman.” Xu Yangyi’s face portrayed genuine fury. However, at that very moment, his stomach growled. Xu Yangyi rubbed his rumbling belly and surveyed the room, only to realize that breakfast had already been prepared for him. He sat down at the table and began to eat.
