C53 – The Xu Family

“What about the other matter I asked you to investigate?” He Jingyan stood up, poured a cup of coffee for Loong Shen, and approached him to inquire.

Upon hearing that, Loong Shen unexpectedly let out a rare sigh. This immediately piqued He Jingyan’s curiosity, prompting him to question what had happened.

Loong Shen actually sighed? How intriguing. It seems like something significant occurred.

And He Jingyan was correct because Loong Shen’s expression suddenly turned cold, and he furrowed his brow. “Your mother-in-law is truly something! No, it should be said that the Xu Family is quite remarkable.”

“If you have something to say, just say it.” It was uncommon for He Jingyan to witness Wu Steel’s unusual behavior, causing his eyebrows to dangerously twitch.

However, Loong Shen wasn’t in a joking mood with Hee Jingyan. He squinted his eyes and stated, “Her file is empty.”

Empty? Hee Jingyan’s body quivered. An empty space meant that this person’s information had been ‘erased’. Except for convicted criminals, it indicated someone from the special forces.

“And there’s more. Your former wife’s file has actually been sealed. I tried to use my connections to uncover the whereabouts of my sister-in-law, but to no avail.” What kind of family was this?

“Former wife?” Hee Jingyan’s gaze sharpened, but Loong Shen pretended not to notice and continued, “I’ve even utilized your authority, yet there has been no progress in obtaining information about Xu Nuannuan and your mother-in-law. It’s as if someone deliberately doesn’t want others to investigate.”

After hearing that, Hee Jingyan sank into deep thought. He furrowed his brows and said, “Don’t worry about it for now. Even my status couldn’t retrieve their files?” If that’s the case, then there’s only one explanation. It’s not that I lack sufficient power, but rather I am not in the same league.

This was because Yangyi had mentioned that her mother was killed by a stray bullet. In that case, only the two of them met the criteria.

“Where is my wife?” Hee Jingyan looked up at Loong Shen and suddenly inquired about Xu Yangyi.

“Speaking of which, it’s quite peculiar. The records regarding Sister-in-law and your father-in-law seem ordinary. However, Xu Nuannuan and your mother-in-law are exceptions.” What exactly is the situation with this individual from the Xu Family?

Loong Shen’s pupils repeatedly contracted as this was a highly unusual case. No matter how he examined it, Xu Nuannuan and the others’ identities appeared far from simple.

Hee Jingyan was also perplexed about whether Yangyi and her father’s records were normal. However, upon reflection, there didn’t seem to be anything amiss. After all, concealing one’s identity and marrying someone were not uncommon occurrences.

“Furthermore, I conducted an investigation into sister-in-law’s family connections and discovered that she has no relatives in H City. Even the neighbors have limited knowledge about her family, so it’s peculiar how she came to reside among them. It’s unsettling to say the least.”

“That man named Gong Cheng has an extensive background. Whenever we try to access his files, the computer gets infected with a virus and we’re unable to crack it no matter what. It appears that he has been by sister-in-law’s side since her birth—an enigmatic figure.”

“He intends to harm Yangyi?” The moment Loong Shen mentioned this, He Jingyan immediately glared at him fiercely.

Loong Shen was momentarily taken aback, then he glanced at He Jingyan. His interest in Xu Yangyi exceeded his interest in other people’s matters.

“I don’t think he has malicious intentions. In fact, it would be more accurate to say that he is protecting sister-in-law and your father-in-law.” After all, he managed to subdue all of my men.

If only he had known it would be so troublesome, he wouldn’t have delved into this matter and instead found something else to occupy his time.

“I don’t believe sister-in-law has much knowledge about her own family.” Ye Zichen was unsure if Xu Jing knew something based on his words.

Loong Shen initially thought He Jingyan would inquire about other things, but he didn’t expect He Jingyan to suddenly stand up and leave the office.

Loong Shen raised an eyebrow but merely chuckled, aware that He Jingyan had gone to find Xu Yangyi.

It seemed that he would need to keep himself busy in the future because this matter was related to Xu Yangyi.
