Chapter 90 Part 2

Fu Yuanchuan said, “The Federation is divided into two factions, it’s in chaos.”

Jun Qingyu nodded thoughtfully. It was better to have internal strife, it could buy the Empire more time, but it was strange to be in chaos at this juncture. Shouldn’t they be united against foreign aggression?

“Don’t think too much.” Fu Yuanchuan nudged the pad of his finger against the little fish’s hair, “We should be able to come up with a result in this period of time.”

“All right.”

Fu Yuanchuan saw that the fish tank was a bit empty, so he took some pearls and filled the bottom, “Assume the identity of a little mermaid and wait for Shi Kaixin to come over before you transform into your human form.”

There was a reasonable explanation for this, to simply let them assume that Jun Qingyu had arrived with Shi Kaixin.

“Mhm.” Jun Qingyu shook his tail, Shi Kaixin should arrive at a later time, he was considered early.

Jun Qingyu pondered and asked, “Then can I become a human in the room?”

He still had experiments to do. Although Fu Yuanchuan had pushed forward with the result himself, he didn’t have a test subject, therefore the data alone wasn’t very useful.

Fu Yuanchuan said, “It’s up to you, no one else will enter this room.”

It was good that no one would come in, this way he could change from one form to another without any problems.

With this thought, Jun Qingyu immediately braced the edge of the fish tank and wanted to jump out.

Fu Yuanchuan hurriedly held him up and gathered the little fish in his palms, “What are you doing? Do you not want to soak in the water?”

He decided to immerse the little fish in water because he feared the little fish would feel discomfort. Due to the absence of medicine, soaking in water could help the little fish feel better.

“Mhm.” Jun Qingyu had no desire to soak in the water. He tilted his head and said, “Help me find a set of clothes, I want to conduct my experiments.”

Given that Fu Yuanchuan had brought Jun Qingyu here, it was expected that he would prepare some clothes for him, but he didn’t go to get them at the moment. Rather, he put the little fish back into the water again, “Let me teach you how to push forward with test results.”

At first, Jun Qingyu wanted to jump out of the water, but after hearing these words, he suddenly settled down. “Have you done corresponding experiments before?”

“No.”

Jun Qingyu cocked his head and had to inquire, “Then how do you know how to push forward with test results?”

The computation of experimental data in the Interstellar Era had special characteristics and was completely different from the ones Jun Qingyu had occasionally come across before he transmigrated. It was very cumbersome and tedious and it involved data encryption.

He had been pushing forth for so long and hadn’t come up with any results, but Fu Yuanchuan had only spent less than a night.

Fu Yuanchuan heard those words and said, “Have I not introduced you to my family yet?”

“Yes.” After Jun Qingyu knew what Fu Yuanchuan had gone through, he would still investigate in detail about his family.

His once happy family had been shattered by outside forces and he himself had struggled to survive under that person for so many years.

To ask about his family in such a situation would be to rub salt into the wound, so Jun Qingyu had been careful to avoid it.

“My father was the director of the Imperial Research Institute, my mother was the chief researcher of the Imperial Research Institute, and my grandfather and grandmother were professors at the Imperial Medical School. My maternal grandfather was a mecha builder and my maternal grandmother was dedicated to researching new mechas, and was recorded into the history books of the Empire at a young age for her outstanding contributions.”

The corners of Jun Qingyu’s mouth twitched slightly, no wonder Fu Yuanchuan knew so much.

He knew the identity of Fu Yuanchuan’s father, but he was a little surprised by the identity of the other elders. The original story said that Fu Yuanchuan was of civilian origin. As a matter of fact, the time period was when the Empire had become a puppet of the Federation, and after Fu Yuanchuan had lost his memory from participating in the experiment.

There was no mention of these elders in the original story.

This was a lapse in time.

Jun Qingyu tweaked the current with the tip of his tail and couldn’t help asking, “Have you ever thought about what you would do when you grow up?”

Fu Yuanchuan shook his head. His family environment was fairly stern and he did not have too many boundless and unrealistic ideas as a child.

In contrast, in the same family environment, his younger brother had many more ideas–one aspiration per day.

“That doesn’t matter.” Fu Yuanchuan said, “The results I have calculated are stored in my light brain, do you want to take a look?”

“Yes!”

Jun Qingyu naturally wanted to see the results of the experiment that had given him a headache for so long.

Without waiting for Fu Yuanchuan to make a move, Jun Qingyu jumped out of the fish tank at once. He deliberately staggered away but was still caught by the wrist; therefore he simply became bigger, took his hand, and sat down on his lap.

His hair was still wet and water dripped down his spine to the floor.

Jun Qingyu grabbed the quilt on the bed and consciously covered himself, “What’s the result of the experiment?”

“Get dressed first, I’ll go get it.”

Jun Qingyu didn’t like the hassle of getting dressed and undressed, “I still have to turn back into a little mermaid in a moment. It’s fine. We can just look at the results first.”

“I have a concern.”

Jun Qingyu lifted his eyebrows. He was sitting comfortably and could clearly feel the change. A small smile tinged his face, he coughed softly to suppress it and moved closer to him without making a sound, “What concern is it? Your clothes are wet too. How about…Huh?!”

Before he could finish his sentence, the scene in front of him suddenly changed, and the thin blanket was lifted up to cover them both. Jun Qingyu lay on his back on the pillow, blinked, and looked at Fu Yuanchuan in front of him.

“There’s still water in my hair, it’ll get the sheets wet.”

“It’s ok, there’s a spare.” He said, pointing down.

“Wait…Mmm, my back hurts so much, it hurts everywhere.”

Fu Yuanchuan certainly knew what was going on, he was just scaring the little fish. He asked, “Do you dare to do it next time?”

“I dare not to.” Jun Qingyu passively held his hand, “I know I was wrong.”

Looking at the little fish who admitted his mistake, Fu Yuanchuan was a bit helpless.

He was quick to admit his mistake, but he would still do the same thing next time. He excused him and gave him a chance, but there was no change.

It could be seen that the little fish was a very principled little mermaid.

What else could Fu Yuanchuan do? He got up, hugged the little fish and displayed the results of the experiment on his light brain for him.

Looking at the data, Jun Qingyu asked, “Do you have anything suitable to replace the ratio of fruits and vegetables I have used previously?”

A solution which would not have any reaction to his space would be best.

“I’ll arrange it.”

“All right.”

Jun Qingyu believed his arrangement would be to assist him in finding a solution that could be its substitute instead, and there was an extra table in the room when he woke up on the following day, laden with all kinds of experimental apparatus.

Fu Yuanchuan came over with breakfast. When he saw the little fish staring at the table, he explained, “These are all things from this planet’s laboratory. Later, the laboratory was sealed and these became obsolete.”

Jun Qingyu nodded, “Give me seven days, I will definitely be able to produce results.”

“There’s no rush.” Fu Yuanchuan didn’t want to put too much pressure on the little fish. Not only that, matters related to the experiment couldn’t be rushed either, “Take your time.”

“Mhm.”

The experiment didn’t go very well, but it didn’t fail too badly either.

A portion of the solutions had been tested already. Most of them were suppressed by spring water, which made it easy to detect the existence of spring water. It was too dangerous so it was scrapped.

He could only try again with the remaining part of the solutions. If he didn’t know which one was the best, he would try them one by one. There was bound to be one that worked.

Fu Yuanchuan had been busy as of late as well and had been in meetings continuously since yesterday.

Jun Qingyu had some vague suspicions, yet he didn’t ask any questions. He simply kept his head buried in experiments and developed the reagent as soon as possible.

During the time he was busy, someone knocked on the door.

Knock knock.

Jun Qingyu’s hands paused. He ignored the person outside, held the test tube firmly and poured the hot compound solution into the beaker.

After connecting to the computer, the virtual screen showed a percentage of around 80, and Jun Qingyu waited quietly for the results.

As for the person who knocked on the door, Jun Qingyu ignored them.

From an outsider’s point of view, there should be no one in this room when Fu Yuanchuan went out for a meeting, even so it was strange that someone knocked on the door.

No matter what the reason was, Jun Qingyu would not go over and open the door. However, Jun Qingyu heard a familiar voice the next moment.

“Sir, are you there?” Shi Kaixin observed his surroundings to see if anyone was around before he spoke with a deliberately lowered voice.

Jun Qingyu raised his eyebrows, put down the things in his hand and opened the door, “How did you get here so soon?”

He had been here for less than ten days and Shi Kaixin had arrived.

Shi Kaixin locked the door once he was inside, “The marshal said that it may not be peaceful in the next few days and allowed us to set out immediately.”

The unexpected news caused Shi Kaixin to naturally mobilise all of the personnel at hand and hastily prepare the supplies even though the original schedule would not have called for it this soon.

Jun Qingyu’s expression remained unchanged, even though he had some doubts. The Federation had been very quiet, with no sign of activity. Previously, Fu Yuanchuan also mentioned there were disagreements within the Federation. Was it possible that the people within the Federation had made peace and planned to take down the Empire first before they continued with their cacophony?

The Federation’s way of doing things was a bit unintelligible to Jun Qingyu and he didn’t bother to make any more conjectures.

The data on the virtual screen had dropped from more than 80 to 30. The lower the drop, the better the fusion; and when it dropped to zero–even if the reagents were taken away by the Federation–only the common solution would be detected, and the existence of spring water would not be detected.

In his previous experiments, it had also dropped to 10%, but nothing further.

As Jun Qingyu waited for the results, there was a sudden loud bang in the quiet corridor outside, and the various glassware in the room shook rapidly.

Chaotic mental energy surged in with a sweeping momentum, and Jun Qingyu suddenly frowned, his mind instantly recalling the phantoms of those test subjects on Planet M.

Concurrently, probably due to the influence of mental energy, the data that was originally at 30 instantly returned to zero.

Beep beep!

Bang!

The sound of rapid beeps and the bang on the door were stacked on top of each other.

Shi Kaixin turned around and stood in front of Jun Qingyu. He had no intention of taking Jun Qingyu out, there was no telling what kind of chaos was going on outside, and taking Jun Qingyu out now would only make it more dangerous. It was better to stay in the room, while it was still safe, before the other party broke down the door.

Jun Qingyu ignored the commotion outside and quickly put each reagent into the test tubes separately. When he looked up, he found something wrong with Shi Kaixin, “What happened to you?”

Shi Kaixin’s face was grim and his body was becoming rigid, “I…Sir, when they come in later, push me over to them. I’ll hold them back, and you run while you have the chance to.”

“Don’t worry about these things for now. Sir, I may not be able to…protect you.”

Such a method of targeting mental energy was disgusting but effective. It was the same concept as being poisoned if you breathed, there was no way to avoid it!

The current danger outside left him no time to think about anything else. He could feel a little bit of his control over his mental energy slipping away. Before that, he had to find a way to protect Jun Qingyu.

“Sir, don’t worry about my life and death. I’ll try my best to hold them off. Hurry up, run.”

“Keep an eye on your light brain and contact the marshal as soon as there is a signal. Don’t look for anyone else and don’t trust anyone.”

“As long as nothing happens to you, I’ll be at ease when I die.”

……

It sounded like he was saying his final words as his mutters continued in his ears.

Jun Qingyu completely turned a deaf ear to it, picked up a brand new beaker beside Shi Kaixin with a nonchalant expression, and filled it with spring water while he wasn’t looking. He ripped his jaw open and poured it in.

“Huh?! Cough, what is this…” Shi Kaixin, who was sentimental, nearly choked to death.

Subconsciously, he covered his chest with his hand and then he froze.

How am I able to move?
