C33 – Traitor Poisoning Death

Nan Xiao, who was standing at the entrance, noticed Hee Jingyan’s sunken face and became even more disheartened. He tried to hide his sadness, but it was evident on his face. He didn’t want Hee Jingyan to notice, so he quickly composed himself.

Ji Guangming was taken aback as he watched Xu Yangyi kick Hee Jingyan out while shirtless. Xu Yangyi’s beautiful long hair was now gone, replaced by a neat and short haircut that gave him a wild and rebellious look.

“No, wait…no breasts? Short hair?” Although Xu Yangyi’s voice had always been somewhat masculine, but…could it be that his sister-in-law was actually a man?” Ji Guangming muttered to himself in disbelief.

“I never said my spouse was a woman.” Ji Guangming was too shocked to even realize what he was saying. As he spoke his thoughts aloud, Hee Jingyan laughed and gave him a sly look.

“But wasn’t this the daughter-in-law that the teacher had his eyes on? How could it be…a man?” Ji Guangming wondered if the teacher had mistaken Xu Yangyi for a woman. Did he see it wrong? Xu Yangyi didn’t look like a man at all!

Despite her short hair, his sister-in-law had a boyish look that was refreshing to behold. It was almost as if she had undergone an instant transformation.

“You better not be laughing at something you shouldn’t be,” Hee Jingyan’s gaze suddenly grew cold. He stared into Ji Guangming’s eyes as if he were facing a wild beast, emanating a threatening danger.

Ji Guangming’s heart raced with fear, and he was left confused. He didn’t understand why Hee Jingyan would suddenly exude such a terrifying aura of hostility.

Ji Guangming appeared unaware that his laughter, which was directed at Xu Yangyi, had been noticed by Hee Jingyan.

It was then that Hee Jingyan’s intuition told him that Ji Guangming had been disrespecting his wife, and thus he issued a warning.

“Colonel, have I done something wrong?” Ji Guangming asked nervously, unable to discern his mistake. He glanced at Hee Jingyan but didn’t dare meet his gaze.

However, Hee Jingyan appeared indifferent towards him and turned a cold stare towards Nan Xiao. “Any news from Zuo Bo? What happened to the traitor?”

Nan Xiao was caught off guard by the sudden question but managed to conceal his surprise. “Mr. Zuo Bo reported that the traitor was poisoned to death an hour ago and no information was extracted.”

Wu Tie subconsciously clenched his hands and avoided eye contact with Hee Jingyan.

Upon hearing this, Hee Jingyan’s expression remained relatively unchanged. He had a hunch that something had gone wrong on his end, and he didn’t expect the enemy to allow his men to be interrogated.

“How is the investigation of the ambush progressing?”

“We are currently investigating it. As soon as we have any updates, your subordinate will inform you.” With every question that Hee Jingyan asked, Nan Xiao became more anxious.

Hee Jingyan didn’t respond immediately, instead he pondered for a while. After a brief moment, he said, “You can return to your work now.”

Nan Xiao didn’t anticipate that Hee Jingyan would only ask about that. He was surprised for a moment, but he complied and left.

Ji Guangming, on the other hand, had been eager to leave for a long time. He was frequently threatened by Hee Jingyan and was always on edge. When he heard Hee Jingyan’s words, he quickly ran away.
